Located on the Intracoastal Waterway near Bakers Haulover Inlet, this five-tier, fully enclosed dry-stack facility is the largest boat storage building in South Florida. Designed by Architectural Alliance Architecture, Inc., the structure accommodates 508 vessels up to 60 feet long, with lower levels engineered to support boats weighing up to 40,000 pounds. The facility also incorporates advanced lift technology, a custom-engineered roof drainage system, and Category 5 hurricane resistance.

Built by Martin Case Construction, Inc., the 104,940 sq. ft. structure combines conventional structural steel with custom metal building components. Its curved roof and wave-and-bubble façade motif reflect the coastal character of Haulover Park. Two of the world’s largest marine forklifts, capable of lifting vessels up to 10,000 pounds to racks 75 feet high, power the facility’s innovative storage system.

A standout feature is the gutter and drainage design: a 17″ x 19″ welded aluminum gutter supported on HSS outriggers, capable of holding up to 5,000 pounds of water. Feeding into 12′ diameter PVC downspouts, the system eliminated the need for costly underground plumbing, saving the owner more than $300,000 even after factoring in the added building scope.
Developed by Westrec Marinas in partnership with Miami-Dade County, the project nearly doubled Haulover Marine Center’s dry storage capacity while elevating safety, functionality, and visual appeal. Today, it stands as both an engineering milestone and a vital asset to South Florida’s boating community.
