EagleSpan®
Building System

EagleSpan steel building frame being erected

Elegance Engineered

EagleSpan® features an innovative folded web beam design that delivers a sleek, modern aesthetic with gracefully curved rafters and expansive clear spans. Unlike traditional segmented rafters, EagleSpan’s true-radius curve creates a seamless look. With EagleSpan, the beautifully arched roof you see on the exterior matches the interior ceiling arch.

This system is ideal for:

  • aircraft hangars
  • equestrian centers
  • sports complexes
  • and commercial applications

Throwing a Curve to Traditional Thinking

Behlen’s EagleSpan® system redefines structural design with its true-radius curved rafter. Starting at a 50-foot radius and spanning up to 200 feet without segmentation, EagleSpan rafters provide maximum headroom, unobstructed horizontal clearance, and a clean, modern aesthetic.

This impressive span is made possible by a three-plate beam featuring a uniquely engineered trapezoidal web. The formed (corrugated) web design enhances strength compared to flat plate webs and significantly reduces visual imperfections like “oil-canning,” or roof ripples.

Corrugation also helps maintain alignment between the top and bottom flanges, minimizing torsional displacement and ensuring long-term structural stability.

Why builders, architects, and building owners choose EagleSpan®:

  • Single-source fabrication: EagleSpan beams are manufactured in-house, ensuring optimal cost control, consistent quality, and streamlined assembly.
  • Seamless integration: The EagleSpan system fits effortlessly into standard metal building design processes, reducing complexity for designers and builders alike.
  • Energy-efficient insulation: Offers high thermal resistance and reflectivity to improve energy performance and building efficiency.
  • Precision-curved rafters: EagleSpan simplifies the process of curving the roof by curving the rafters at the factory and attaching equal-length clips. The result is an accurately fabricated frame that’s attractive and easy to erect.
  • Erector friendly: Builders appreciate the corrugated web design, which makes the rafters more rigid and easier to handle than traditional metal building rafters.
  • Factory-applied primer: Frames come coated with a gray primer finish for a clean, finished appearance.
