Legacy Auto Group in Garden City, Kan., has a customer base throughout southwestern Kansas. Steady growth over the years led owners Jason and Jennifer Dougherty to envision a larger, more elegant auto dealership building, one that could fully show Legacy’s comprehensive sales and service capabilities. Thanks to the expertise and knowledge of GBS Enterprises, a Behlen Mfg. Co. authorized builder, the dealership now has a home with the look and feel the Doughertys had always wanted. It’s a building that, in looks and function, communicates a deep belief in the care and comfort for today’s vehicle owners.

For this 168 x 144 ft. pre-engineered metal building with a 21 ft ceiling height, the owners opted for a metal frame structure with SIP (Structural Insulated Panels) walls, which adds strength, energy efficiency, and soundproofing. Using SIPs also allowed faster completion by the GBS crew. The roofing choice is Behlen Building System ZL 24 Standing Seam Roof.

The design by GMCN Architects featured a striking main entrance with a grand arched entryway. Inside, the full-height, clear-span design offers plenty of room for vehicle displays, a free-standing work area for customer convenience, plus dedicated offices for
sales and other personnel to work effectively. Further inside is a well-lit, tastefully furnished customer waiting area that offers the amenities today’s customers want.

The large service area includes two entrances and leads to multiple service bays with lifts, tool storage, and areas for specialized repair equipment. The maximized clear space provided by steel spans ensures that vehicles can be moved in and out with ease.
