Offering a better option in roof and wall panels is something you’d expect from Behlen Building Systems, and we’re proud to now feature PBR (Purlin Bearing Rib) metal panels in our metal building components.
Today’s PBR panels present multiple advantages for toughness and flexibility – precisely what you need for long life in commercial, farm, and ranch, and residential applications. PBR has broad industry support for compatible ridge vents, roof vents, wall louvers, curbs, light-transmitting panels, closures, and related accessories.
Multipurpose PBR Panels
Behlen PBR roof and wall panels are manufactured from 24-gauge and 26-gauge steel, the hardest used in the industry. This strength provides exceptional resistance to hail, punctures, and daily wear and tear.
The distinctive PBR difference lies in its self-supporting metal-to-metal connection, achieved through heavier gauge steel and an overlapping rib design. These 1.25-inch built-in extensions on PBR panel edges sit directly on structural framing (purlins or girts), supporting the lap joint during fastening.
Whether you choose traditional (PBR) or reverse-design (RVP) panels, they can elevate your project’s curb appeal. Install them vertically or horizontally, or mix and match profiles and applications to suit your style.
The PBR design advantage allows significantly heavier live and dead loads, such as excessive snow accumulations and high wind uplift. It also enables wider purlin spacing without sagging. The standard 36-in PBR width with 12″ rib spacing reduces the number of seams required, making installing PBR panels less time-intensive.

PBR WAll Applications
The cross-functional application of today’s PBR panels, available in traditional (PBR) and reverse-design (RVP), makes them well-suited for many wall-cladding applications.
Either PBR design can elevate your project’s primary curb appeal: install them vertically or horizontally, or mix and match profiles and applications.
The 36” coverage with 12” rib spacing makes for fast installation, with a profile designed to prevent unwanted oil canning and accommodate various wall insulation systems.
The RVP panel option is an attractive choice for soffits that protect the underside of a roof’s edge. Its distinctive “shadow line” profile also adds visual depth, making it a popular, eye-pleasing option for interior liners and walls. RVP can also be used as a base substrate in combination with other ornate wall cladding systems.
